Wallum Smalls Exhibition

Wallum Smalls Exhibition

13 September 2025 | Gallery Cosmosis | 22 Brigantine St Byron Arts & Industrial Estate

We’re thrilled to invite you to the opening night of the Wallum Smalls Exhibition – a vibrant, community-powered art event where 100% of proceeds go directly to the Save Wallum community campaign to protect the Wallum ecosystem.

Gallery Cosmosis distributed 140 small canvases (8” x 10”) to local artists, Save Wallum supporters, and even some talented kids. The result? A stunning collection of Wallum-inspired artworks – from ancient Scribbly Gums and Wallum heathlands to the occasional jungle cheetah painted by an 8-year-old!

On the night:
– Art auction + raffle
– Original paintings at affordable prices
– DJ, drinks, finger food & carpark entertainment
All proceeds support our case to stop Clarence Property’s destructive development at Brunswick Heads.

If you joined us at last year’s exhibition, you know it was pure magic. This year promises even more beauty, heart, and community spirit.

Why this matters

Right now, the community awaits a Federal Court decision – expected in late September – on our legal challenge to Clarence Property’s proposed development at 15 Torakina Rd Bayside Brunswick Heads. This ‘zombie DA’ would bulldoze a High Ecological Valuesite home to over 100 threatened species, including:

  • 🐸 Wallum Sedge Frog – reliant on Wallum’s acidic swamps for survival
  • 🐨 Koalas – already endangered and in critical decline
  • 🐌 Mitchell’s Rainforest Snail – found only in isolated rainforest pockets
  • 🦉 Glossy Black Cockatoos – vulnerable and declining due to habitat loss
  • 🐾 Long-nosed Potoroo – shy, endangered marsupials needing dense understorey

This fun art event supports the substantial legal costs of standing up for country, ecology, and community – defending a site rich in biodiversity, cultural heritage, and wild beauty.

How you can help

Come for the art, stay for the music, and leave knowing you’ve directly supported the fight to protect one of the last remaining wild Wallum ecosystems on the NSW North Coast.

Let’s come together to celebrate creativity, nature, and resistance. Because to walk in Wallum is to fall in love with it – and to defend it.
